This Insurance Coverage Policy explains the types of insurance available when renting a vehicle through Discount Car Rental, your responsibilities, and the terms and conditions that apply. It is important to review this policy before completing your reservation.

  1. Standard Coverage Included in Rental

Each rental includes basic third-party liability coverage, as required by Jordanian law:

  1. Third-Party Liability (TPL)
  • Covers injury or death to third parties.
  • Covers damage to third-party property.
  • Excludes damage to the rental vehicle or injuries to the driver/renter.
  • This coverage is mandatory and cannot be declined.
  1. Optional Insurance Products

To enhance your protection and minimise personal liability, we offer the following optional insurance coverage:

  1. Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
  • Reduces your financial responsibility for damage to the rental vehicle in the event of an accident.
  • Excess/Deductible: A fixed amount you are responsible for before coverage applies (amount stated during booking).
  • Does not cover:
    • Tire or windshield damage
    • Undercarriage or roof damage
    • Damage due to driver negligence, intoxication, or violation of Terms
  1. Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW)
  • Offers zero or minimal excess in case of damage.
  • Covers more components than basic CDW (including tires and windshield).
  • Still subject to compliance with rental agreement conditions.
  1. Theft Protection (TP)
  • Limit your liability in the event the rental vehicle is stolen.
  • Requires immediate reporting to the police and the rental agency.
  • Does not apply if theft results from negligence (e.g., keys left in the car).
  1. Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)
  • Covers medical expenses and accidental death/disability benefits for the renter and passengers.
  • Applies only while occupying the rental vehicle.
  1. Exclusions (Apply to All Coverages)

Insurance will not apply in the following situations:

  • Driver under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Unauthorised drivers (not listed on rental agreement)
  • Use of the vehicle for illegal purposes or reckless driving
  • Damage from off-road use or prohibited travel zones
  • Failure to file a police report within 24 hours of an incident
  1. What to Do in Case of Accident or Theft
  • Contact the local police immediately and file a report
  • Notify Discount Car Rental within 24 hours
  • Complete an incident report at the rental office
  • Submit all supporting documents (e.g., photos, police report)

Failure to comply with these steps may invalidate insurance coverage.

  1. Security Deposit and Deductibles
  • A security deposit may be held on your credit card at the start of the rental.
  • The deductible amount (if any) will be communicated at booking and varies by vehicle type and insurance level selected.
  1. International Renters

All international drivers are eligible for the same insurance options. You may be required to present an International Driving Permit (IDP) in addition to your domestic license.

  1. Disputes and Governing Law

All insurance claims and disputes will be handled according to the laws of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and any legal proceedings shall take place in Amman, Jordan.
